We'll discuss some of the winners, losers and what's driving the rise in problems. Moreover, we'll reveal how EVs compared to traditional internal combustion engines. With the average transaction price of a new vehicle, nearing a record-breaking $50,000, car buyers are expecting their automobiles to be problem free. However, Hanley reveals that's just not the case. In fact, this year models quality slid backwards, when compared to the 2022 model year vehicles.

Car Shoppers Beware: Several Ways To Navigate The Covid-19 Price Increases

Its not uncommon these days to see virtually empty car lots. This is as a result of  auto manufacturing plants closing last spring, at the request of the government to combat Covid-19. Ironically, almost a year later, the auto industry is still reeling from the closures in both the new and used car markets. Thus, this has led to a historic price surge in both the new and used car markets. In some cases a market adjustment have been applied to some vehicles for dealers to literally capitalize upon the inventory imbalance.

Moreover, throughout the pandemic, the government has doled out billions in financial incentives to stimulate the economy to business owners, gig workers, parents with young kids under 18 and to most taxpayers, in order to steer clear of another Great Recession. While there is a segment of the population that has been impacted by the hardest hit areas of the economy: travel, hospitality and the restaurant industry, there is a segment of society, who hasn’t missed a beat, in terms of their income, with the ability to work from home all while taking care of their kids. With this being the case, according to J.D. Power Insights, the sales of new vehicles in the U.S. priced above $80,000 more than doubled in the first five month of 2021, when compared to the same period in 2019.

The Korean Brands Take Top Billing Again For Highest Quality In JD Power 2019 New Car Study

The all-new Genesis G70 is one of the top models in terms of quality for the 2019 model year.

Earlier this week, the quality gurus from J.D. Power released their annual ranking of top new models and brands based on the first 90 days of ownership. The survey was based on surveying owners who purchased brand new 2019 models.

For the second consecutive year, the Korean brands grabbed the top three spots. Genesis, which is the most recent luxury brand to hit the streets, competes head on with such established makes as Mercedes-Benz, BMW and Lexus. Genesis garnered the number one spot, as a brand, for the 2019 model year. Some critics might say that its a low-volume brand, with only three models in its portfolio, and they have no reason to have shoddy quality.

J.D. Power 90-Day Probationary Period Is Up: The 2015 Vehicles And How They Ranked With Consumers

The much-anticipated J.D. Power Initial Quality Study was released today, measuring the quality of each of today's 2015 models during the first 90 days of ownership. Jaguar, Kia and Infiniti were the three top brands (or makes) for 2015. Chevy, a division of General Motors, had four models models awarded as the tops in their respective segments, while BMW followed with three awarded models. This report has basically thrown the theory out of the window, as it relates to foreign vehicles being better than domestics. That is not necessarily the case with today's vehicles.

Typically, any model that has gone through a major redesign or is totally new to the segment rarely makes the list, because automakers are still trying to work out the kinks. To our surprise, the all-new Audi Q3 made the list, although this is its first year of production. Ironically, vehicles like the Mazda Miata and the Chevy Spark, which are in the last years of its production cycle, make the list. Its assumed that the automakers have worked out most of the kinks by the time they switch over to the model.
