Honda Slated To Recall 887,000 Minivans For Fuel Pump Concerns

Honda will voluntarily recall 886,815 Odyssey minivans from the 2005-
2010 model-years in the United States to replace the fuel strainer,
free of charge. Prolonged exposure to acidic chemicals, which are
present in some car wash formulas and the general environment, along
with high ambient temperatures, may cause the cover of the fuel
strainer to deteriorate prematurely, resulting in cracks in the material.

Cracks in the cover of the fuel strainer, which is located on the top of
the fuel tank, could lead to a fuel smell being present or, in extreme
cases, to leaking fuel, increasing the risk of fire. Honda is not aware of
any crashes, injuries or fires related to this issue, which was discovered
during warranty repairs.

Honda And Acura Recalling 374,000 Vehicles For Airbag Concerns

American Honda will recall approximately 318,000 Honda Odyssey vehicles from the 2003-2004 model years and approximately 56,000 Acura MDX vehicles from the 2003 model year in the U.S. to address potential malfunctions of the Supplemental Restraint System (SRS) airbag system in these vehicles due to electrical interference. To prevent malfunction, an electrical noise filter will be installed adjacent to the SRS control unit, free of charge.

Honda has received a small but increasing number of complaints in recent months of inadvertent airbag deployment in these vehicles, which are equipped with SRS control units that contain computer chips similar to those used in airbag system control units installed in other manufacturers' vehicles that were recalled in the last year. No crashes have been reported to Honda related to this issue.

Honda Recalls 748,000 Vehicles for Airbag Concerns

Honda will voluntarily recall approximately 748,000 model-year 2009-2013 Pilot and 2011-2013 Odyssey vehicles in the United States to inspect and, if necessary, replace the driver's-side airbag. Driver's-side airbags in these vehicles potentially were assembled without some of the rivets that secure the airbag's plastic cover. If the rivets are missing, the airbag may not deploy properly, increasing the risk of injury in a crash. No crashes or injuries have been reported related to this issue.

Honda is announcing this recall to encourage owners of all affected vehicles to take their vehicles to an authorized dealer as soon as they receive notification of this recall from Honda. Mailed notification to customers will begin in mid-Feb., 2013. In addition to contacting customers by mail, in mid-Feb., owners of these vehicles will be able to determine if their vehicles require repair by going to www.recalls.honda.com or by calling (800) 999-1009, and selecting option 4.
