Design director Andre Hudson (photo credit: IndiEv)

Andre Hudson, who is currently amongst an elite group of approximately five Black designers around the world to lead a car design studio, goes one-on-one with JeffCars.com to talk about his latest work of art, the Indi One, which made its world debut last fall in Beverly Hills, California.

Hudson is helping to usher in the electric car movement, albeit they only represented 3 percent of U.S. new vehicle sales in 2021. Before switching to electric vehicles, the creative genius made a name for himself at Hyundai, after composing the head-turning 2011 Sonata. The vehicle was named by the enthusiast's magazine, Motor Trend, as one of the top fifteen most important cars last decade. In fact, at its peak, the sexy looking sedan accounted for 40 percent of the Korean brand's annual U.S. new vehicle sales. The automaker made so much money from Hudson design they were able to launch the Genesis luxury line.

Gov't Shutdown Puts The Brakes On Recalls, Safety Tests, And Some Car Sales

The current government recall touches all of us in some way. Since October 1, there has been no recalls released, no consumers car complaints reviewed, no fuel mileage tests by the Environmental Protection Agency and no government tests by safety dummies to determine the strength of today's new vehicle. There just isn't the manpower available to perform such tasks.

Check out one of the new stories we came across related to a consumer who has been forced to hold off filing an auto safety complaint with the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, clicking here.

If the shutdown lingers, which we expect to be resolved by this Thursday, so that we don't default on our obligations, this could affect borrowers ability to get cheap interest rates too, which will drive payments up. Hyundai, Toyota and Lexus all have offered to defer payments for those affected by the government shutdown.

Moreover, those affected by the shutdown are putting off making any major purchases such as autos, until this is resolved. This by enlarge affects consumer confidence, especially as the auto industry has been on a steady roll this year.

Chrysler's Top Car Designer Puts 'The Donald' In Check

Using Twitter earlier this week, Chrysler's top design guy, put 'The Donald' in check over some misleading information he spread about Jeep and China. 'The Donald' is hoping to sway voters to jump on the Republican bandwagon.

This conversation appeared on Twitter recently:

Obama is a terrible negotiator. He bails out Chrysler and now Chrysler wants to send all Jeep manufacturing to China--and will!

GM Posts $7.6B Profit, Are Bailout Critics Still Singing 'No Bailout' Tune?

The editor of JeffCars.com recently received a personal plant tour at the Lake Orion auto assembly plant from Alicia B. Davis (r), the highest ranking African American female at GM, and Nina Price (l), a communications manager for GM, who started her career as one of the plant's supervisors. Davis, who was responsible for reopening the plant, after it was closed temporarily during GM's turbulent years, has since been promoted  to a new position back at the Detroit headquarters.

Are the auto bailout critics still saying no to the government bailout of the auto industry? Just wondering: Will Romney try to backtrack, after the scathing op-ed he wrote earlier this week, regarding President Obama and the auto bailout?
