Automotive News Discusses The UAW Historic Contract Negotiations On 'Auto Trends'

This year could be dubbed as the year of the workers. Everyone from the railroad laborers to Kaiser Permanente healthcare employees to UPS workforce have stood up to their employers, demanding that they be fairly compensated, after years of sacrificing, as the companies they have worked for racked up record profits.

The automotive industry also joined the fight this fall. Since 2009, assemblers have made major sacrifices, saving 'The Detroit Three,' General Motors, Ford and Chrysler during the Great Recession. Automotive News reporter Michael Martinez talks to Auto Trends with JeffCars.com about the United Auto Workers (UAW) historic contract negotiations. Martinez, who is based in Detroit, has been covering the UAW extensively for the past 10 years. In an eye-opening conversation, we'll examine the pros, cons and more of the historic UAW Stand Up Strike.

Randy Parker, the CEO of Hyundai Motor America, joins Auto Trends with JeffCars.com, a weekly syndicated multicultural automotive program, for a one-on-one conversation.

Last summer, Parker, who is a seasoned executive in the industry, earned the keys to drive the fifth largest automotive brand in the United States based on sales volume, after decades of grinding his way to the top.

'Auto Trends' Talks Rural Black Town Vs The State As Ford Builds A Mega Electric Vehicle Campus (Two Part Show)

In September 2021, Ford Motor Company announced the creation of a mega electric vehicle campus known as Blue Oval City, which is based in Stanton, Tennessee. Stanton is located approximately 50 miles outside of Memphis, Tennessee.

Ford’s $5.6 billion dollar electric battery and manufacturing campus will be the largest in the Ford world, according to representatives from the automaker. The sleepy little Town of Mason, Tennessee, which is located just five miles away from the site of the new Mega campus, is being led by an all-black administration.

SiriusXM’s ‘Auto Trends’ Talks to the First Black Woman to Own an Electric Vehicle Charger Plant

As the auto industry slowly shifts toward electric vehicles, Auto Trends with JeffCars.com, a multicultural syndicated automotive radio program, talks to Natalie King, one of the first Black women to have a major stake in the alternative fuel industry.

While electric vehicles only represented 3 percent of the new vehicle sales in 2021, King, who is the owner of the Detroit-based Dunamis Clean Energy Partners, is literally breaking-ground and diversifying this field, as the first Black woman to own an electric vehicle charger manufacturing plant.

The Georgia Department of Labor will assist Kia Georgia, Inc. (West Point/Lagrange) to host a virtual recruitment (general information sessions or scheduled interviews) to fill approximately 550 Production Team Member positions on November 18, 2021 from 10 am until 12 pm and again from 2 pm until 4 pm. Applicants must be 18 years of age. A criminal background check will be conducted on applicants. Entry salary starts at $16.27 and will incrementally increase to $25.15 over a three-year period.
