A massive vehicle to drive on city streets
At a starting price near $130,000, the Escalade IQ, which shares components with the Chevy Silverado EV, GMC Sierra EV and Hummer EV, effortlessly pumps out a whopping 750-horsepower.
Like the gasoline powered Escalade, the Escalade IQ not only serves as the flagship for the luxury brand, but also as the pinnacle EV for any luxury brand attempting to establish a footprint in large three-row segment. Currently, there isn’t another all-electric, fullsize, luxury three-row vehicle available on the market.
And with the Escalade IQ being an all-electric vehicle, one can expect to garner an eye-popping 460 miles of driving range on a full charge. The vehicle’s charging adaptor is compatible to use at Tesla’s charging stations, too.
Moreover, this type of driving range for a big body vehicle eliminates what many in the industry terms as range anxiety and the inability to make out of town road trips being that charging stations are steadily popping up across the country despite the current administration shift away from supporting the electric vehicle community.
Added to that, occupants in this stylish and luxurious tech-infused 7-seater, has plenty of room to store luggage and other necessities either in the cargo area or the frunk, which was once reserved for engine components and the like. In fact, the funk is so mammoth, we found ourselves having to climb inside to access items that had slid to the rear. Outside of the additional cargo space, the Escalade IQ can also tow up to 8,000 pounds.
Moreover, like any flagship vehicle, this one is loaded with every imaginable accoutrement available. Those features range from an optional second row individualize entertainment screens to available massaging front and second row seats depending upon the trim selected to leather appointed seating to a 360-degree camera. However, we were disappointed the Sport trim we reviewed lacked massaging front seats. Go figure? That essential feature should be standard on all Escalade IQs.
Lastly, the mammoth sized Escalade IQ offers a crawl system. The feature can be essential when parking is at a premium. In the case of parallel parking, the feature allows the vehicle to literally walk (crawl) out of tight spaces without damaging the vehicles or having to wait until the occupants parked in the front (or rear) return to occupy their vehicles.
Overall, the Escalade is the brand’s future in terms of combining driving range, technology, luxury and style. Cadillac is the first to offer such in this premium segment. The next closes electric vehicle is the 5-passenger Mercedes-Benz G- Wagon. However, the G-Wagon lacks the driving range and space provided by the Cadillac Escalade EV. So, for those seeking to experience the future of driving in a three-row electric car, look no further. It's encapsulated in the Cadillac Escalade IQ.
