'Auto Trends' Kicks Off Black History Month With A Former Rainbow PUSH Automotive Activist: Where Do We Go From Here?

Over the past week or so since Trump took office, he has been issuing out nonstop signed executive orders from The White House and Mar-a-Lago like a level 5 tornado tearing through an urban area during a busy workday.

As expected, there have been some immediate casualties, non-life threating injuries, uprooting, angst and mental frustration. Overall, as expected, there has been pure chaos and confusion.

Yet, for those who have been in the trenches working for an equitable and inclusive country realizes this will be our new normal. However, this doesn't mean we should just retreat and standby idly, as 60 years of civil rights literally get eviscerated. 

To help all of us sort out where we go from here and how we can make a difference individually and collectively under the current climate, Glenda Gill, the founder of Save a Girl, Save the World, joins Auto Trends with JeffCars.com, which celebrates its 8-year anniversary on SiriusXM, over the next two weeks.

Gill, who was Rev. Jesse Jackson's first executive director of Rainbow PUSH Coalition Automotive Project, helped to create measures that made sure the automotive community understood and respected the buying power of diverse communities on several fronts (eg. employment, advertising, procurement, dealer diversity, and philanthropy).  The former

For instance, just in the Black community alone, this group spent approximately $64 Billion on new vehicles in 2024. In the midst of all of the noise being created by the Trump administration, each of us have a voice, especially based on our spending power. And in the political arena, we have a voice as well.

While Gill will focus on the automotive industry during the engaging talk, don't be mistaken that her insights can be used outside the industry, too.
