Lacks a performance version with more horsepower to compete against the AMG and M-Series lines

Verdict: The midsize Genesis GV80 AWD coupe, with its signature wired Bently-like grille, is all-new for the 2025 model year. As Genesis is expanding its product portfolio, the Korean brand is following in the footsteps of its German competitors, offering both a SUV and a coupe-like derivative.

The AWD only GV80 Coupe is available in two trims. The two most noticeable items that distinguish the trims are the wheel size and the horsepower.

We spent time behind the wheel of the higher end trim. The higher end trim was flanked by the larger 22-inch wheels and the supercharged 409-horsepower. While the GV80 Coupe has a more athletic look, it’s still a luxury vehicle through and through. Unfortunately, its not designed to take on the likes of Porsche, the BMW M-Series or the Mercedes-Benz AMG on the racetrack.

Furthermore, the roomy five-seater Genesis GV80 can be outfitted with every imaginable feature. They range from a copilot radar activated steering system to Nappa leather with a massage feature for the driver to a heated front console for those brisk winters.

Moreover, the GV80 Coupe also received the same combined high-tech supersized digital instrument cluster and infotainment center as the GV80 SUV.

Lastly, at a base starting price in the low $80k range, the well-equipped Genesis GV80 Coupe is priced slightly higher than the offerings from Audi, BMW and Mercedes. Its no surprise that the Porsche is the only vehicle priced higher than the Porsche. Go figure? Lastly, the Genesis offers a longer warranty than the competitors.

Competition: Audi Q8; BMW X6; Mercedes-Benz GLE; and Porsche Cayenne Coupe
