Now while we normally cover cars, we thought it would be fitting to include this posting on our site, especially since its considered by some as the ultimate form of transportation. According to Fox 5 Atlanta, civil rights legend, Dr. Joseph Lowery, who turns 90 next month, received the ultimate gift, probably something he didn't realize was on his bucket list. Delta Air Lines presented Lowery with a 757 inscribed with his signature and the title, "Dean of the Civil Rights Movement." The aircraft will carry Lowery along with other civil rights leaders to M.L.King Memorial dedication which will coincide with the 16th anniversary of the Million Man March. The M.L. King Memorial dedication was originally scheduled for August, but it was postponed due to the weather. To mark this special flight, the plane will be under the command of an all-African-American flight crew.
On hand to honor Lowery, was his wife Evelyn Lowery, former US Ambassador Andrew Young, Atlanta Mayor Kasim Reed, Delta CEO Richard Anderson and a number of Delta employees.
Just think: If Dr. King could speak, he probably would say this is a tribute definitely fit for a King... no pun intended.
