Editor's Picks: Ford And Chevy Offers America's Best Muscle Cars

The 2011 Ford Shelby GT500 is one of the Detroit-based automaker fastest mass-produced vehicle, spitting out 550 horses. Being behind the wheel of the Shelby with the six-speed manual transmission can be quite intoxicating.
The 2011 Chevy Corvette Grand Sport is still one of America's best two-seater sports cars. Could you imagine a world without a Vette? Well that's what could have happened without the government bailout of  both GM and Chrysler.
Pricing for this street-racer starts out at around $55,000. Its available as both a four-seater coupe or convertible. The editor is glad he was in the coupe and not the convertible.
While the Grand Sport Vette produces about 436 horses, with the 6.2-liter eight liter engine, the editor's highly-optioned sports car listed for $69,920. Like the Shelby, the Vette is available as a coupe or convertible. The Vette smokes most vehicles when pulling away from the stop light. For those seeking more power, Chevy also offers a 505 and 638-horsepower Vette. Four-hundred and thirty-six horses with the six-speed manual transmission was more than enough for the editor. This is the first Vette the editor has driven with a stick. Look for a detailed review of both vehicles in the very near future.
