As The U. S. Shifts Toward Hybrids, Toyota Will Only Offer The 2027 Highlander As A Fully Electric Crossover

While Toyota has been slow to embrace fully electric vehicles, they're making a bold move with their popular three-row crossover, the Highlander.

They'll be joining the Korean makes from Hyundai and Kia, offering their first three-row crossover in its portfolio. The three-row crossover, with its estimated 300-mile driving range, will soon join the brand's bZ, as Toyota's second all-electric vehicle.

Sales for the 2027 Highlander are expected to begin later this year.

While pricing hasn't been announced, we expect that the Highlander will be in line with Hyundai's Ioniq 9 and Kia's EV9, which starts out the gate at $60,555 and $56,545, respectively. Currently, the base price of a hybrid Highlander is $47,000. On the other hand, the more economical Grand Highlander, which is available at a price point near $43,000 will be available in a gasoline and hybrid powertrain.

Moreover, like Hyundai and Kia, Toyota will offer a three-row crossover as a gasoline and hybrid, too.

Furthermore, we can also assume a version of Toyota's all-electric crossover will join the Lexus line up in the near to distance future.

So, for those who aren't quite ready to embrace the future of driving, the Grand Highlander remains a staple for now, especially as the car industry suffers from offering affordable vehicles.
