With the average transaction price of a new-vehicle hoovering around $48,000, buying used is the best option for many of today's car buyers seeking an affordable alternative. Also, in the history of analyzing car prices, this is first time there has been a $20,000 gap between both the average new and used car pricing.

Alex Knizeck, Consumer Reports' associate director of auto test development joins Auto Trends with JeffCars.com, the longest running weekly syndicated multicultural automotive program in North America, for an engaging one-on-one conversation.

The independent, non profit organization, who is known for evaluating new vehicles, talks about their testing procedures, the traditional means they use to source their new cars and their first used car brand study.

The used car brand ranking encompasses five- to ten-year-old vehicles. Many will find the study to be eye-opening. Being that the average used car these days list around $28,000, Consumer Reports helps consumers take the guess work out of finding both a reliable brand and model.

During the conversation, Knizeck will identify the top tier and lower tier used car brands. Knizeck will also share his background and how he landed what he sees as his dream job working for Consumer Reports.
