6-cylinder engine available
And Toyota has made the bold move to follow the Honda Accord's cue by steering clear of a 6-cylinder engine. Toyota has also decided to made the bold decision of only offerring a hybrid powertrain in its popular midsize sedan. In our opinion, we found the 4-cylinder hybrid engine, which cranks out 236-horsepower, to be more than adequate in this year’s fuel-efficient model.
Moreover, while the midsize crossover segment market has expanded, the midsize car market continues to contract. In fact, the Subaru Legacy and the Chevy Malibu ended its production runs in 2024.
Thus, this only leaves the Honda Accord, the Hyundai Sonata, the Kia K5 and the Nissan Altima competing head-to-head with the segments bestseller, the all-new Camry.
Competition: 2025 Honda Accord; 2025 Hyundai Sonata; 2025 Kia K5; and 2025 Nissan Altima
