The luxury market plays a major role in the rise of leasing. The
nine segments with the highest retail lease penetration in January
were all luxury categories. The luxury compact segment and the
luxury sub compact car market are the leading segments for leasing.
Leasing overall accounted for 30.2 percent of new-vehicle sales
in January, according to IHS Automotive.
