Garage Preview: 2011 Saab 9-4X Crossover

The Saab 9-7X was Saab's first and last attempt of offering a SUV. It was based off the same platform as the now defunct Chevy Trailblazer.
Saab is back again offering a fresh design with the all-new luxury-oriented 9-4X crossover.

Unlike Saab's previous GM-based SUV, this time the Scandinavian automaker will share a platform with the popular Cadillac SRX crossover.

Under the hood of the 9-4X, a choice of compact and efficient V6 engines are available. The 265-horsepower, 3.0-liter motor for the entry-level model features direct fuel injection and variable valve timing; while the 300-horsepower, 2.8-liter exchanges direct injection for twin-scroll turbocharging and is exclusive to top-of-line Aero variants. Both engines are mated to six-speed automatic transmissions under adaptive, electronic control

With its Saab-like cockpit interior design, the 9-4X goes on sale in North America in May next year. Pricing for the 9-4X will be announced early next year. It should be in the same ball park as Caddy's SRX which starts out at $34,000 and  tops out at $56, 000, when fully loaded.
