Verdict: The body-on-frame midsize Frontier is the only truck offered by the brand. The rugged Frontier is available in both a king cab and a crew cab in either a short or long wheel bed
Moreover, the Frontier is powered by a 6-cylinder engine producing 320-horsepower. While the vehicle is available in a host of trims, the truck we tested competed head-to-head with the segment’s best-seller, the Toyota Tacoma.
In fact, the Frontier we tested came with a standard 5-foot bed, offering over 7,150 lbs of towing capacity and approximately $6,500 of NISMO specific performance features. The cool-looking truck, with its all-terrain tires, was designed for off-roading with its multi- terrain system and 1.5-inch lift kit.
Some of the NISMO features ranged from a performance suspension, a souped-up exhaust system and 17-inch Black wheels.
And, while the Frontier undercuts the pricing of the Tacoma we tested, it did lack a hybrid powertrain, an automated crawl control system and a power tailgate. Yet, the durable Nissan truck offers more horsepower, towing capacity and a larger touchscreen infotainment system than the segment’s bestseller.
