Verdict: The all-new Honda CR-V has matured in terms of styling and size. We love the new design direction of the CR-V. This year’s model is available in a variety of trims in both a front wheel drive or an all-wheel drive configuration.

Moreover, the stylish compact crossover is available as a gasoline and hybrid model. While Honda has expanded its powertrain offering, with an updated more fuel-efficient hybrid, it still hasn’t jumped into the electrification space like the Toyota RAV4 and the Ford Escape.

In fact, even with the RAV4 hybrid only being available in an all-wheel drive configuration, it still manages to out best the compact hybrid segment in terms of mileage. Yet, the CR-V hybrid offers more overall horsepower than all of the hybrids in the segment and a more car-like ride. Added to that, unlike Toyota, the CR-V offers real leather seats too.

Furthermore, the CR-V offers new technology too. The features range from a new snow driving mode to a new hill descent control to a new touchscreen infotainment screen.

Overall, Honda continues to step up their game, making sure the CR-V remains competitive in the segment despite being behind the curve in offering a plug-in model.
