 NO. OF IMPACTED CUSTOMERS: 50,000
SUMMARY: 2011, 2012 and 2016 Mitsubishi Outlander Sports are being recalled because the outer tube on the lift gate supports may not have been treated properly to prevent rust, causing the tube to corrode.
CONSEQUENCE: If this happens, the liftgate could automatically fall upon being open, injuring people.
REMEDY:The automaker will notify owners and dealers in the near future and replace the liftgate support for free.
