Kia will unveil an all-new minivan, which they refer to as a midsize multi-purpose vehicle, at the 2014 New York International Auto Show in two weeks. According to the folks at Kia, this global debut will challenge the segment and will offer the functionality to transport as many as eight passengers and their belongings while also serving as a purposeful offering for adventure seekers.
In a shrinking segment, the Sedona is dead last, as it relates to sales numbers, styling and the lack of technology incorporate throughout the vehicle. Only 641 Sedonas were sold in March, in comparison to 14,165 from the Dodge Caravan. We are surprised Kia hadn't dropped out of the segment with such dismal sales numbers. However, based upon the reinvestment in the segement, its obvious that Kia is ready to make a dent in the people mover business.
