(Video Interview) Lexus' Bill Camp Talks Changes For The All-New 2014 Lexus IS

It was in 1998,when the Lexus IS first hit the scene. Thereafter, the second generation made it way to dealerships in 2005.  Since 2005, the second generation IS has gotten a little long in the tooth. Nevertheless, while the first-generation and the second generation IS may have had an appealing design, it just didn't quite provide the same performance-oriented road manners as its competitors, the BMW 3-Series, the Audi A4 or the recently introduced Cadillac ATS. However, Lexus engineers have finally gotten it right with the third generation IS, both inside and out.

After spending a few hours behind the wheel of the 2014 Lexus IS, we found that this vehicle is on track to be a game changer, seeing this vehicle no longer rides or drive like an uninspired luxury car.The IS line is now available in a variety of driving modes, depending on the trim selected.

Added to that, Lexus has finally made this a performance-oriented sedan that can truly go after the BMW 3-Series. With the 2014 Lexus IS, the luxury automaker plans on increasing sales from the approximate 29,000 vehicles that were sold in 2012 to a projected 40,000 in 2014, once there is a full calendar-year of sales underneath the IS belt.
