In 2009, Lexus much-anticipated all-dedicated hybrid hit showrooms. Unfortunately, upon first glance, the high-dollar Lexus resembled a gussied-up Toyota Corolla. While the vehicle was a success over in Japan, it never quite caught on fire here in the States. Although the vehicle incorporated the latest high-tech gadgets, the styling was just too conservative and the vehicle was too pricey. Many of the features found in the HS could be found in the Toyota Prius. In fact, sales
of the slow-selling HS barely hit 2,000 units last year. Of course, with numbers this low, the HS doesn't make a good case study on why this vehicle should remain in the line up. Its being reported through a number of our auto sources that the HS will no longer be apart of the Lexus line up. We believe this is the first Lexus vehicle in the history of the brand that didn't live up to its hype. According to some Toyota officials, the HS was added to the U. S. portfolio without seeking the approval from the folks who know the market best, American executives. Well the lesson learned is that the Japanese car buyers taste for design sometimes may differ from American car buyers.
