Latest Trend: Americans Are Slowly Driving Toward Manual Transmissions



  • In the first quarter of 2012, 6.5% of new vehicles sold had manual transmissions.
  • The last time manual transmission sales were this high was back in 2006, when it reached 7.2%.
  • Five years ago, 29% of 2,391 vehicles sold here in the United States offered a maual transmission.
  • Today 19% of the 2,360 models offered are equipped with manual transmissions.
