BMW Recalls 1.3 Million Vehicles (UPDATED 3/30)


Affected Vehicles:

2003 to 2010 BMW 5-Series
2003 to 2010 BMW 6-Series

Reason for Recall:

The battery cable cover inside the boot may be incorrectly mounted.

How It Could Affect the Vehicle:

This could result in the electrical system malfunctioning, the vehicle failing to start, in some cases sparking a fire. According to the folks at BMW, "We are not aware of any accidents or injury to persons resulting from this fault."
Number of Vehicles Affected:

1.3 million worldwide

How Will Affected Customers Be Contacted:

Vehicle owners will be notified in writing. Affected vehicles will remain at the respective BMW Partner repair workshop for approximately 30 minutes, the service, of course, being free of charge to the customer.
