UPDATED: Bush Rescues Auto Industry, Republicans Against Deal

On Friday Bush offered an early Christmas present to the auto industry, agreeing to offer a low-interest loan to Chrysler and GM. Although I have little faith in President Bush, I knew he didn't want to add the failure of the auto industry to his lackluster legacy. Unfortunately, many in his party weren't in agreement with Bush's decision. Over the past few weeks this topic has been front and center in the media. Those adamantly opposing the bailout happen to be Republicans, many of whom have foreign automakers situated in their own backyard. To read more of my commentary, click here. If we leveled the playing field by increasing the minimum wage across the board to a level that meets the basic needs that all Americans should have the right to, —Decent living conditions, food, heath plan, education. If we were able to work and afford these things with the basic of jobs what would happen?

1. Companies cannot low ball workers or get foreign help just to increase profits.
2. Everyone starting out that is hired will be hired a level that the can automatically and realistically take care of themselves.
3. Productivity would increase.
4. Quality of life would increase
5. Health would increase
6. The circulation of money would increase (increased spending=good for business)
7. The economy would be healthier
8. Less dependence on government (unless unemployed.)
9. Increased work effort & efficiency. (if you are healthy and can afford more you can do more comfortably)
10. Increased ability to manage time spend (work, play, recreation, creativity, family, friends)

Companies should be able to get help or assistance from the government (so the burden is not totally theirs) to help pay for the increased wages and at least health benefits so that benefits and decent living wages are mandatory or required for all who work in the United States. If you are working you should always be able to afford a comfortable and reasonable and humane standard of living in the United States. This may work better than a socialized or a government health plan, which many are afraid of. The government can cover the employee through the employer as long as they are working. If minimum wages are increased then the need for government health programs will be minimized and reserved for individuals unemployed for a long period of time.

The next step is
To create more jobs here in the US
To increase the success rate of start-up businesses (75-85 % of start-up business fail)
The one's in business are not doing so well. We need a way to help govern and assist these businesses to increase their success rate so they can achieve there goals. There success only helps others.

To help business who want to stay in business grow and create more jobs.

We need to stop looking at businesses from a competitive stand point but more from a win win or benefiting all stand point. This is not a game of football or a game of chess. Peoples lives, families and legacies are at stake. We as civilized beings cannot leave such a thing up to dog eat dog, win or lose, I get mine, your on you own. We must all organize and work to benefit each other.
