2019 Volvo XC40: The Brand's New Compact Crossover




Base MSRP: $33,200 (T4 FWD); $35,200 (T5 AWD)

What's New: This is the brand's first foray into the premium compact crossover segment.

Standard Features: Volvo's City Safety, which includes pedestrian, cyclist, vehicle and deer/moose detection with emergency autobrakes; Wireless mobile phone charging; a 9-inch scrolling infotainment touchscreen; and a dedicated cell phone

Available Features: a panoramic sunroof and Apple CarPlay and Android Auto integration 


Innovative Buying/Purchase Feature: This will be the first vehicle that can be purchased under what Volvo terms as its "Care by Volvo" program.  Through a hassle-free buying process, consumers will able to upgrade to a new vehicle as early as 12 months. Volvo says the process of buying one of their vehicles will be as simple as paying a monthly fee just like with today's smartphones.  As a side note, just like with renting ZipCars, maintenance, insurance, wear and tear items will be included in the flat-rate monthly fee.

Future Powertrain: Expect a hybrid and a plug-in XC40 in the near to distant future
