The Editor's Soul Train Moment

View the editor at the Soul Train Music Awards at 1:02 grooving.

Many of us have had a Soul Train moment. Some have occurred while being apart of the infamous Soul Train line at family gatherings or parties, other occurred in front of the TV on Saturdays while viewing the music show. The editor of JeffCars.com experienced his moment not while watching the show, but while attending the 2010 Soul Train Music Awards as a guest of Toyota Motor Sales, who was one of the sponsors. The cameras caught him grooving to his girl, Anita Baker, as El Debarge serenaded her.

With that said, we'll all miss how Don Cornelius, the creator of Soul Train, occupied our Saturday mornings with the latest dances, musical artists and fashion. Cornelius projected a positive image for the world to see on the airwaves every Saturday.

Beyond the music, Tom Joyner mentioned on his nationally syndicated radio show on how Soul Train became one of the first programs to attract advertisers to target black consumers too. So, yes Cornelius was a game changer and a pioneer.

Cornelius was a cultural icon that will definitely be missed.
